ECO-ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In 2007, Rachel was introduced to the healing power of wild-harvested botanicals from the Amazon and to a unique eco-business model.  This model empowers the inhabitants of the rainforest in ways that not only impact their present lives but also the future sustainability of the Amazon Rainforest itself.  In 2008, she said "yes," to this model of sustainable business and is building a team of like-minded eco-conscious business people.  Please follow the links below to learn more about her work with the Amazon Herb Co.:

WHY ODONATA?

The word, "odonata," is the Latin name for the order to which dragonflies belong.  Rachel picked the dragonfly as her totem because it is a symbol of transformation and because, "they are the coolest insects ever."  Unlike butterflies, their transformation is a gradual one taking place in many steps.  Most of a dragonfly's life is spent underwater, in fact, in a stage known as a nymph.  In the muddy waters of ponds, nymphs molt several times over several years.  Finally, the nymph crawls up out of the waters and molts one last time, emerging with its beautiful, sparkling wings, to fly like no other winged creature on earth.
